Internet giant expanded its global footprint across the kingdom with official launch .
Starlink, the satellite internet venture developed by Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX, had officially commenced its high-speed internet service across Bahrain, the company had confirmed through its official X account (formerly Twitter).
The launch had taken place following the telecommunications licence granted by Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in 2022, which had authorised Starlink to provide satellite-based internet solutions throughout the Kingdom.
Director General of TRA Bahrain, Philippe Marnick, had welcomed the advancement, asserting: “This reinforces our commitment to providing advanced telecommunications solutions that support the Kingdom’s development vision and meet the aspirations of both the public and private sectors.”
Starlink’s entry into the Bahraini market had represented part of its rapidly expanding global reach. By May 2025, the service had already been made available in more than 125 countries.
Through a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink had enabled high-speed and low-latency connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved locations.
In addition to domestic and commercial usage, Starlink had also served critical mobile sectors such as aviation and maritime operations, thereby facilitating new possibilities for innovation across logistics and mobility sectors.
